Author Guidelines

Submitted articles should include the following elements:

  1. Article title – clearly indicating the subject of the paper.

  2. Abstract – placed directly under the article title; it should be concise (approximately 150–250 words) and summarize the main purpose, methodology, results, and conclusions of the research.

  3. Keywords – placed under the abstract (4–6 keywords).

  4. Full reference list – placed at the end of the article, in alphabetical order, formatted according to The Chicago Manual of Style (16th edition), Notes and Bibliography system.

When submitting through the Open Journal System (OJS):

  • Please provide these elements exactly as they appear in the manuscript.

  • Submit the article in .doc or .docx format prepared in a standard word processor (e.g., Microsoft Word).

  • Attach a separate file with a short author’s note (brief academic biography, up to 150 words).

  • Do not include any author information in the article file or file name. Author data are collected during registration in the OJS and automatically assigned to the submission.

General Editorial Rules – Main Text

  • Font: Times New Roman, 12-point.

  • Line spacing: 1.5 lines.

  • Alignment: Justified on both sides.

  • Paragraph indentation: Standard.

  • Headings and subheadings: Times New Roman, 12-point, bold.

  • Margins: Standard (2.5 cm on each side).

  • Page numbering: Continuous, aligned to the bottom right corner.

General Editorial Rules – Footnotes

  • Format: Footnotes (not endnotes).

  • Font: Times New Roman, 10-point.

  • Line spacing: Single.

  • Alignment: Justified on both sides.

Citation and Reference Style

Lex Dogana follows The Chicago Manual of Style (CMOS), 16th edition, Notes and Bibliography system.
Full references must be provided in the reference list. Footnotes should indicate the first full citation and then use shortened versions for subsequent mentions.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • This submission meets the requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • This submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
  • All references have been checked for accuracy and completeness.
  • All tables and figures have been numbered and labeled.
  • Permission has been obtained to publish all photos, datasets and other material provided with this submission.

Articles

Focus and Scope
The Articles section is the core scholarly component of Lex Dogana: Journal of Customs & Administrative Law. It welcomes original, unpublished, and methodologically rigorous research articles addressing topics such as:

  • customs law and policy,

  • administrative law and public governance,

  • international trade regulation,

  • comparative and European legal studies,

  • interdisciplinary research relevant to customs and administrative law.

Articles should make a substantive theoretical, doctrinal, or empirical contribution to the field, demonstrate originality, and engage with relevant literature and case law.

Peer Review Policy
All submissions undergo double-blind peer review by at least two independent experts.

  • If reviewers’ recommendations conflict, the editorial board may assign a third reviewer.

  • Reviewers are selected for their subject-matter expertise and must comply with journal ethics and confidentiality rules.

  • Final acceptance decisions are taken collectively by the Editorial Board based on reviewers’ reports.

Editorial Standards
Manuscripts must comply with the journal’s Author Guidelines, including:

  • structured abstract (150–250 words),

  • keywords,

  • references formatted according to Chicago Manual of Style (Notes and Bibliography),

  • adherence to research ethics (plagiarism check via Similarity Check/iThenticate).

Articles are published under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license, ensuring free and unrestricted access, sharing, and reuse with proper attribution.
